Wednesdays Wrap Up- Emiliana Shawl, Lost in Time Shawl & May Top
Our featured patterns this week are looking at using lightweight yarn in fun colours! We have a breezy summer knitted top and two colourful shawl patterns, one which is knit in mosaic colourwork and one that is crocheted. We have outlined below our top yarn choices for these great patterns.
Just a reminder that the patterns are not available on our site so will need to be purchased and/or downloaded from elsewhere but we will provide a link. If you need more assistance with yarn choices or quantities please contact one of our stores where our helpful and knowledgeable staff will be on hand!
Emiliana by Lisa Hannes
Emiliana is triangular, bias knit mosaic colourwork shawl using two colours. The mosaic section is an easy to knit stitch pattern using slipped stitches and only one colour per row, resulting in a very striking motif. This shawl will be very fun to knit and perfect to dress up with on chilly summer evenings.
Manos Alegría is our top pick for knitting the Emiliana Shawl. The hand painted colours provide so many different fun colour combinations and the cushy feel makes it soft and warm to wear around your neck and shoulders.
Our next pick for the Emiliana Shawl is Regia Premium Silk. It will knit up beautifully in this shawl. With the soft, bouncy feel from merino wool and the shine from the silk it will be both comfortable to wear and a stylish addition to your wardrobe.

Lost in Time by Johanna Lindahl
Lost in Time is a modern crochet shawl with a vintage feel. This free pattern has 12 row repeats allowing you to easily customise your size and use any yarn you would like with the corresponding hook size. We love using 4ply yarns at the moment for a lighter weight shawl you can wear throughout spring and summer.
This multicoloured shawl is the perfect use of small amounts of the beautiful Manos Fino Miniskeins. Depending on the size you want to make you will want to add in at least one full size skein of Fino or you can use up leftovers you may already have at home. Fino combines the softness of merino wool with the lustre of silk in a lightweight yarn that is perfect for shawls. Being a single strand, it crochets easily and there is no fear of splitting the yarn with your hook.
Manos Alma is also a single ply yarn, made of the softest merino superwash. It is available in some beautiful bright semi-solid colours as well as a few variegated colour ways that would be stunning in this crochet shawl. It will also mix well with Fino if you want to mix and match the colourways.
We love the idea of using Rowan Summerlite 4ply to crochet this shawl. It is 100% cotton and beautifully soft with a summery tonal colour palette. You can create a beautiful multicoloured shawl or even an elegant single coloured one from the range.

May Top by Gabriella Calderini
May Top is a light summer version of the popular Timbo Vest pattern.
In this new design, Manos wanted to maintain the original construction and it is knitted from top down in a simple and interesting broken rib
stitch with details on the shoulder in stocking stitch. It is the ideal top to wear every day of the summer.
Manos Feliz, the sport weight yarn May was designed with, is very special. It is predominantly Merino with the addition of Modal, an ecological fiber derived from eucalyptus, which gives it a very particular touch, less woolly, with lots of lustre.
Manos Serena will also make a beautifully soft May Top with it's blend of baby alpaca and pima cotton. These two luxurious Peruvian fibres give Serena the best of both words: the elasticity of animal fibres, with the fresh touch of cotton.
Another great choice for a summer top is Rowan Cotton Glace. Cotton Glace is 100% mercerised cotton with a a lot of sheen and spun with a high twist for incredible stitch definition. Bright shades make it perfect for a fun summer top and it is also machine washable.
